SHA Intermedia
SHA Studio at the Center offers a unique recording experience. Whether for CD release, podcasting, direct streaming, live television broadcasts, or DVD shoots (with or without an audience), we offer the highest benchmarks of recorded audio with an infrastructure that provides seamless integration with other production teams; video, lighting, "live" sound for the audience, etc.. MPAC can accommodate anything from the smallest overdub to large, complex productions and orchestral recordings with equal ease.
Our specialty is "performed" music.
Great recording begins at the source and at MPAC our prioritization begins with a "live" room that masquerades as a theatre but is in fact an acoustic marvel. Non-parallel surfaces, sand-filled walls, Helmholtz resonators (and other esoterica) combine to create the ideal recording space – both warm and detailed – that offers size without boominess. Performers and audiences have been unanimous in praise of the clarity and intimacy that the room provides.
The Architech's of Sha
The control room and its monitoring system is a collaboration between Gene Shiveley and Steven "Coco" Brandon. Mr. Shiveley is a 40-plus year veteran of the recording industry, having owned and designed numerous studios serving every facet of the business. MPAC represents the culmination of his vast wealth of experience and passion for recording music. Coco is considered by many to be the premier control room acoustician. He is forever traveling the globe "tuning" the best studios in the world.

Warm and Tradition
Our console is an API Legacy Plus. API has been the standard for American consoles for over last forty years. Since the late sixties their consoles have been an integral part of the "L.A." sound. API equalizers in particular are highly regarded. The console can easily accommodate multiple sub and cue mixes and feeds, stems, microphone inputs from back-to-back performing groups, etc..With its combination of optimal audio quality and the functionality and ergonomics demanded from modern consoles, the Legacy Plus is a perfect match for MPAC.
Technology and New Media
Pro Tools has emerged as the standard format for today's recording. SHA features a 48 track system (which can easily be expanded to 96) that features Apogee digital converters. For over 20 years Apogee systems have been the desired upgrade for digital recorders, giving a more natural high-fidelity result. Other formats – such as 2" analog – can easily be integrated into our system. Clients have taken advantage our comfortable, creative, and customizable environment for their productions. Throughout the facility are several isolated rooms that can be used for recording in conjunction with the main recording space. These spaces can also be used as video editing suites, lounges, and green rooms. |
